in Africa. It covers a wide range of interests and concerns in education and related field of humanities and social sciences. It is a professional peer-reviewed journal that is published biannually by the Faculty
of Education, University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria.
AJOSIE is dedicated to increasing the depth of the subject across disciplines with the ultimate goal of providing a clear and definite outlet
for original articles on the theory, policies and practices relating to diverse sections of educational practices, policies and planning such as the role, theory and practice, development, funding, management
of emerging trends in education, Educational Measurement and Evaluation, Economics of Education, school business management, Innovations and Change, Human Resource Development, Population Education, monitoring
and evaluation, infrastructural development, supervision, challenges and prospects of education in Africa from state, national, regional and international perspectives etc. The above list is just indicative
and in exhaustive. The Board of Editors welcomes thought-provoking articles within the purview of Educational practices and policies. The authors will be informed about the decision of manuscripts and accepted

Author guidelines
Basic guidelines for contributors:
Contributors to AJOSIE, University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria should adhere to the following basic requirements:
Language:
Manuscripts submitted to AJOSIE must be written in clear and unambiguous English Language.
Title:
This should be written in capital letters and must reflect the content of the paper and be precise and unambiguous.
Name(s) and Address(es) of Author(s):
These should follow the title of the paper with the forenames preceding the surname.
Abstract:
Manuscripts (Articles) must be accompanied with an abstract of not more than 200 words. The synopsis of method, results and conclusions should be included in the abstract. This allows the reader a quick grasp of the essence of the work.
Keywords:
After the abstract, the author(s) should outline the keywords in the article, on whose basis it can be classified.
Length:
Articles must be double spaced on one side of A4 paper and should not be more than 15 pages.
Format:
Times New Roman; font 12 and 2.0 (double) spacing.
Structure:
Though articles may have other subsections as may be thought necessary by the author(s), however the following should be indicated:
Introduction: it should include the main objective/purpose of the study and discussion of relevant literature to show the relationship between published work and the subject of the study.
Methodology: this should highlight the work carried out, items used and the procedures and techniques employed. It should include sufficient details and clarity to enable other scholars to replicate the work elsewhere.
Results/Findings: Here the author should display and describe the data obtained and present the data in a form easy to understand. The author must clearly spell out and demonstrate the method of result analysis.
Discussion: This should not restate results but should focus on their implications and significance and lead to relevant conclusion(s). The author should also compare his results with what others have found and offer suggestions on the way forward.
Conclusions; and Recommendations. Tables, diagrams, figures, and pictures should be in their appropriate places in the body of the article.
Referencing: All citations must be referenced and the contributors should adhere to the seventh edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) format. Contributors of accepted manuscripts will receive detailed guideline for preparing accepted papers for the publication.
AJOSIE Policies
- Accept:
The article is accepted without revisions. The author is advised to pay the fees prior to the publication. The open access publishing agreement is then signed. - Accept with revision:
The article is accepted either with minor or major revision. The paper is sent back to the corresponding author for the corrections. The author is given ample time to comply depending on the severity of the corrections. If the time given is insufficient, the author is advised to formally request extension through email. The author then submits the corrected article for final evaluation and proofreading. If the article is accepted, the author is advised to pay the fees and sign the open access publishing agreement prior to publication. However, if the paper requires further revision after the resubmission, the editorial board provides further revisions request through email or through discussion forum in the portal. - Reject:
The paper is rejected for some major content issues - The article is an author’s original work.
- It is not considered for publication nor any part previously published elsewhere.
- The author confirms, to the best of his knowledge, the authenticity and integrity of the data gathered.
- There are no fabrication, plagiarism, material misrepresentation, academic dishonesty, discriminatory and bigoted language contained in the article.
- The author obtains prior permission for the use of any previously published text or material owned by another person.
Privacy policy:
The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
Peer review policy:
The journal adheres to the double blind peer-review process. There are two phases of evaluation and review process.
Preliminary evaluation by the editor: The anonymous file submission is sent directly to the editor-in-chief and/or associate editor for preliminary evaluation. The editor evaluates the paper based on its fitness to journal scope or structural requirements. The decision of the preliminary evaluation will be sent within 1-2 days. If the paper is rejected, the author may be advised to consider other journals or follow the prescribed manuscript structure. If the paper is accepted, it is sent to reviewers.

Peer review: After the preliminary evaluation, the anonymous file is sent to reviewers composed of section editor or editorial board member and external reviewer. Neither the author nor the
reviewers know each other’s identity. This process takes minimum of one week to a maximum of one month. The journal ensures that reviewers strictly comply with the ethical policy and standards. The
result is sent to the corresponding author as soon as two reviews are done. The decision of the reviewers may be any of the following:

Open access policy:
The publisher retains the copyright of all the articles, reviews and reports published by the jornal. Authors are allowed to cite the papers published by the journal, but they must give credits of the works cited to the author(s) of the particular paper. No article in the journal can be used for commercial purposes, concert, or exhibition without the prior-approval by the copyright holder of the journal.
For reviewer
The journal recruits external experts in the field to assist the editor in the evaluation and acceptance of papers. They are selected based on their qualification, specialization and experience.
All submitted papers duly accepted by the editor for suitability to journal scope or structural requirements are sent to the reviewers. The journal editorial staff reserve the right to choose the appropriate reviewer based on their knowledge of the topic.
The journal adheres to the double blind peer-review process. Neither the author nor the reviewers know each other’s identity. Invitations are sent to potential reviewers. Thereafter, the paper is sent only to those who agreed to accept the review invite. The reviewers are given maximum one week for the acceptance of the task and maximum three weeks for the review process. The editor makes the decision after the receipt of at least two reviews.
The reviewers are expected to practice impartiality and confidentiality in the performance of their task. They need to exercise neutrality and fairness in their decisions. Any conflict of interest must be communicated to the editorial office. In addition, the reviewers need to observe confidentiality of the peer review process. They must not use the manuscript to their own advantage or share the same to anyone else.

The reviewers evaluate the articles based from the following:
- An appropriate title for the article
- Clarity of the general and specific objectives
- Clear research framework with reference to related works in the area
- Appropriate methodology
- Clear and complete results; tables and explanations match
- Accurate discussions of the results
- Appropriate conclusion
- Ethical consideration

Publication Charges:
Authors will contribute the sum of N20, 000 ($25) as charges for the publication of their article.
